    Introduction

    Graduate Institute of European Studies at Nanhua University.
      Welcome to the Graduate Institute of European Studies at Nanhua University. We have a long history of providing excellent research led teaching to our students and is one of the only two graduate institutes for European research in Taiwan.Some of Taiwan’s most prominent scholars in the field of European affairs are lecturers here. Our outstanding research reputation and teaching quality were confirmed by the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT) in 2010.
      We currently have 5 academic faculty members in the Institute and all are actively engaged in research and teaching. Our course provides a thorough grounding in European affairs focused around two groups of elective courses: the economic, social and cultural group, and the law and political group. We also offer Eurasia Research English Program and Human Security Program for graduate students to achieve their research objectives.
      Our staff members have engaged in the graduate institute’s basic accomplishments including humanistic solicitude, communication and European studies, and core capacities containing independent thought, problem solving, international horizon, report writing-up and European knowledge. Over the last 15 years, 124 graduate students have graduated, and over NT$2,500,000 generated in research and teaching grants from a wide variety of sponsors.
     
    a.   Research
     As one of the only two graduate institutes for European research in Taiwan, we aim to promote, sustain and develop research excellence. Academic staffs within the Institute are active in a wide range of research areas. Currently most faculty are engaged in plans for a three-year research project, funded by National Science Council of Taiwan, entitled “The Comparison of Asian and European Regional Integration, and the Role of Taiwan”.
    1.  Seminars: The Institute regularly organizes seminars with external speakers to discuss and analyze the current European issues for mass media to transmit to the public.
    2.  Publications: All faculty are actively engaged in publishing high-quality results from their research. You will find a comprehensive list of publications on the faculty pages.
    3.  Periodicals: The Institute annually publishes the periodical of “European Review of International Affairs ”for announcing academic theses.
    b. Teaching 教學
    The Graduate Institute of European Studies consists of highly qualified, committed and approachable individuals. We encourage students to focus their studies in areas of specific interest to them. As our lecturers have diverse interests amongst themselves, this means that appropriate support and guidance for a thesis will be available for whichever area in European affairs the student chooses.
     
    c. Requirements 入學/畢業需求
      Courses start in September each year and at least two years of full-time studies is required.
     
    1.  Entry Requirements : Either an undergraduate degree or its equivalent in Politics, History, International Relations or other related subjects. We also welcome applicants with relevant professional experience and qualifications.
    Degree Requirements: Nine courses, with at least three courses chosen from each Group and a dissertation must be completed.
